North Allegheny School Board Elections

Current North Allegheny School Board Members that have terms ending at the end of this year:

Maureen M. Grosheider, President (Been on the Board since July, 1995)
Alan T. Shuckrow, Vice President (Been on the Board since December, 2005)
Karen S. Boujoukos (Been on the Board since December, 2001)
H. Scott Cunningham (Been on the Board since December, 2001)
Beth A. Ludwig (Been on the Board since December, 2001)

The North Allegheny School Board is elected by all the residents of North Allegheny (Marshall, McCandless, Bradford Woods, and Franklin Park) for 4 year terms. Every 2 years either 4 or 5 seats are up for re-election.

I actually found an outdated website for when these 5 candidates ran in 2007.

Will the all Republican School Board survive the fact that they raised taxes the last 2 years in row? Will the Democrats put out any real candidates to run against them?

Young Democrats Endorse Candidates

I received a press release sent out by the Young Democrats of Allegheny County last night announcing their endorsements. The group made mostly safe incumbent choices in their endorsements. I'm surprised they didn't go with the youngest candidates in some of the races such as County Controller and City Council 1, 3, and 7. I'm pretty sure there is at least one candidate under 40 running in all of those races.

The following is a press release from the Young Democrats of Allegheny County:

Did Orie get to see any of the evidence before she went to trial?

County Controller flyers and mail

Here are some political mailers and handouts that have been forwarded to me recently. Below is just Democratic Candidates for County Controller:

Valerie McDonald Roberts:

Chelsa Wagner:
George Matta:

Stumbling at the Gate

Mark Patrick Flaherty's campaign sent our an invite a few weeks ago inviting everyone (I'm guessing Democratic Committee Members only) to a Spaghetti dinner last Friday. Below is the invite:

But something went wrong! Flaherty's campaign decided to reschedule the event (I blocked out the date since it wouldn't be fair if everyone that read this blog could crash the event that is still in the future):

But wait! Something else went wrong. Okay, so you can't really see it because I bocked it out, but the 2nd invite had a date that didn't' match up with the day of the week that was listed. So a 3rd mailing was sent out:

It seems like a bit of an expensive and embarrassing mistake by the Flaherty campaign. The Democratic candidates for Allegheny County Chief Executive have stumbled a bit early this campaign season. A reader of this blog pointed out that Rich Fitzgerald sent a letter with his website address, but the website is 'coming soon.'
Let's hope they get their act together, since both Patti Weaver and Raja look to be serious candidates from the Republican side.

Political Mailings - Rich Fitzgerald for County Executive

Keeping with the tradition here at North Pittsburgh Politics of sharing any political flyers or mailings that are shared with us, here is a letter that Rich Fitzgerald apparently sent to the Democratic Committee recently. Mr. Fitzgerald is running for County Executive.
